Israel ratified the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) on August 24, 2005. In 2021, the ITC Project partnered with researchers at Tel Aviv University to establish The ITC Israel (IL) Survey. The main topics of the survey are: assessing knowledge and attitudes of Israelis towards tobacco or nicotine use (cigarette smoking, hookah , e-cigarettes, etc.), tobacco use behavior, exposure, uptake of smoking cessation support, and support for laws. The National Institute of Health Policy Research is the primary funding agency for the Wave 1 ITC Israel Survey.
