Yiannis Tountas is a Professor of Social & Preventive Medicine in the Medical School at the University of Athens. He studied Biology and Public Health at Harvard University, as well as Medicine at the University of Athens. He is Director of the Center for Health Services Research, Medical School, University of Athens and Director of the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPM).
He has authored 10 books and more than 200 scientific publications, and has been a member and Chair on a number of important public health committees, and served as President of the National Organisation for Medicines until 2013.
