Marcelo Boado has a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University Research Institute of Rio de Janeiro (IUPERJ). He is currently a Professor and researcher in the Department of Sociology in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of the Republic in Uruguay. He is also a researcher at the National Agency for Innovation and Research. Dr. Boado's research and teaching focuses on the subjects of mobility and inequality, social and educational desertion, and health and quantitative methods. He joined the ITC Project as Principal Investigator of the ITC Uruguay in 2006. He is also a member of Centro de investigación para la epidemia del tabaquismo (Ciet Uruguay).
