Prof. Dr. Habil., M.D.,Ph.D. Antigona Carmen Trofor is Head of the Pulmonary Diseases Department and PhD student coordinator, at the Medicine Faculty of the “Grigore T.Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Iasi, Romania, teaching pulmonology and respiratory rehabilitation for students, providing pulmonology residents postgraduate training, and acting as faculty for bronchoscopy and smoking cessation competence at national level. As well, she is the Head of the Clinical Department 1 of the Pulmonary Diseases Hospital from Iasi, Romania. President of the Tobaccology Section of the Romanian Society of Pulmonologists, past member of the “Tobacco Control Committee” within European Respiratory Society (ERS) and past secretary of the Group 6.3. “Tobacco, Smoking Control and Health Education” of ERS, Prof. Trofor is also coordinator of the Romanian Smoking Cessation Guideline of the Romanian Society of Pulmonologists and editor of the European Network for Smoking Prevention (ENSP) Smoking Cessation Guideline.
Prof Trofor has a prestigious research activity in European research grants, such as: H2020 EUREST PLUS (European Regulatory Science on Tobacco: Policy implementation to reduce lung diseases), “ unCoVer- H2020-SC1-PHECORONAVIRUS-2020-2-RTD, or the current EREST-RISE exchange tobacco control staff MSCA-H2020 project. Author of 156 original studies published in WOS indexed journals and of numerous books in the field of pulmonary diseases and tobaccology and principal investigator in 45 clinical studies phase II-IV about asthma, COPD and smoking cessation, Prof. Trofor is providing postgraduate training for bronchoscopy and tobaco dependence treatment in various national and European educational bodies.
